Caminetto Pipes

The Caminetto brand originated in the early 1960s through a collaboration between Guiseppe Ascorti and Luigi Radice. Both made pipes for Gianni Davoli, a well-known tobacconist in Milan. Because the beloved Castello pipes in Milan were not available, he sent a number of Caminetto pipes to the United States. These were received with a great deal of praise and were repaid in large numbers. The name Caminetto originated on a pleasant evening of the three men. While enjoying a glass of wine, they arrived at a small chimney, camini in Italian. The three smoking men were known as I tre camini. The two pipe makers and later also Davoli wore a mustache, hence the subtitle: La pipa del baffo, the pipe with a mustache.
In the 70's the success was so great that only stnadaard models were made. Radice was fed up with this because he wanted to show his creativity. As a result, everything went into rapid acceleration, Ascorti could no longer handle it and went on alone. Davoli had a workshop without staff, which burned down shortly after.
Meanwhile, the son, Robert, and grandson, Tomasso, of Ascorti are working together to create beautiful new pipes under the name Caminetto. This testifies to real craftsmanship, perfect workmanship and a beautiful design of classic models in a new look.
